Leadership Development in Schools
The North Leadership Centre has cemented its reputation over the last 10 years through its work with NPQH and other leadership programmes in the North East region.
Bespoke Programmes
In recent years we have found that schools are looking for more bespoke provision to develop their leadership teams to meet their specific challenges. No two schools are the same and no two leadership teams are the same.
We now have considerable experience and expertise, at primary and secondary level, in devising tailored programmes, in negotiation with you, which will meet your specific needs.
Recent projects include:
Senior Leadership Team development
- Westerhope Primary (Newcastle)
- St. Mary's C of E Primary (Berwick)
- Chillingham Road Primary (Newcastle)
- Pennine way Primary School, Carlisle (Cumbria)
- Ashington High School (Northumberland)
- Cragside Primary school (Newcastle)
- Bedlingtonshire High School (Northumberland)
After a recent successful Ofsted the headteacher, Kieran McGrane said "The developing capacity of the SLT was mentioned in the report and a lot of this is down to the work with (NLC's secondary consultant). It has been really valuable."
Middle Leader Development
- Amble Middle Leaders Project - 6 middle leaders from 4 schools in the area
- Ashley Primary School (South Shields)
Whole Staff Succession Planning
Caldicotes Primary (Middlesbrough) - 3 days with all staff on whole school issues. Leslie Howes, the headteacher, said, "(The programme) raised our level of thinking, helped us to appreciate and value our colleagues even more, and gave us confidence to face the challenges of the future. We have just achieved our second 'Outstanding' OFSTED and Leadership and Management was recognised as 'Outstanding'."
Headteacher Coaching
Headteachers sometimes feel so overwhelmed with competing demands and deadlines that they cannot see a way forward and suffer from stress. We offer a coaching service which helps heads develop a system to improve their workflow, regain control of their work and reduce stress. Six months after such a session Jo Warner, headteacher of Westerhope Primary school said,"By the way I am still using your system, and feeling in control, not stressed (not much anyway) and enjoying my job again - you are a miracle worker!!"
