Day 2 - Communicating Clearly as a Manager (17 June 2013)
Effective communication is critical for a manager. How can you prevent misunderstandings? How can you overcome barriers to meaningful conversations? You will learn how to plan for effective communication in a variety of work situations so that you feel confident in dealing with tough issues and difficult people.
Day 3 - Getting the work done (self and others) (18 September 2013)
Do you wake up in the middle of the night remembering something you were supposed to do? This day will give you a workflow system that will help you to organise you work so that never happens again. You will learn how to prioritise your workload and how to delegate effectively. You will explore the challenge of allocating tasks so that they are completed effectively and on time whilst taking account of the development needs of the individual and the team as a whole.
Day 4 - Supporting the Management of Change (16 October 2013)
In modern organisations change is constant. If the change is forced on you from outside the business how do you manage it? If you feel the need to introduce change how do you ensure that you overcome resistance and help people to come to terms with the discomfort it may bring. Many wise people have studied the management of change and we have some of their very practical ideas to help you.
Day 5 - Developing People and Performance (13 November 2013)
From the day a new colleague joins you, you have the opportunity to help them develop and become highly productive members of your team. We will explore the best way to mentor them and gradually move to a coaching role. You will find out what we know about how best to motivate people. We will discuss performance management both as an everyday tool and an annual event. And we will give practical advice about dealing with conflict and underperformance.
